Baby Week 29

Dear Baby,

You definitely have a personality of your own already! You had another ultrasound Tuesday and all morning you had been moving around like a wild man! Even on the way to your appointment you were being very active, as if you were training for a triathlon or something. But of course, as soon your parents walked into the room with the ultrasound technician your were completely still. You curled up into a tiny ball with your legs crossed as tightly as can be and your knees drawn up to your chest. Your arms were brought up in front front of your chest with your fists clenched tightly right in front of your face. You were face down with your bum sticking straight up into the air at us. You are such a goof!

The technician said that you were in the naughtiest position possible and every time he tried to poke you to get you to move you wouldn't budge. He said you are already a stubborn one. He tried poking Mama's belly and even shaking it and when you finally did move it was to an even worse position. The technician said that he was invading your territory and you definitely proved that you won't be forced to do anything you don't want to do. You did manage to move your fists just enough that we could see your mouth, but then you stuck your tongue out at your parents twice. It was pretty cute to see your little tongue but they can't help but feel a little nervous about you already being so strong willed. It seems as if you've already inherited your Daddy's stubbornness and your Mama's attitude. With that combination your parents are doomed!

Other than the “naughty” position (according to the technician) you were in, the rest of the ultrasound went great! You definitely had a growth spurt in the last two months because at your last ultrasound you were measuring at July 9th but this one was much better, showing you at June 27th. The doctor was glad to see that your size is where it should be now and your official due date is June 30th. Your parents are so excited to see you and can't wait to hold and snuggle you. (Oh, and you started moving like a maniac again within 30 minutes of the appointment being over...you already think you are so funny!)

Your Aunite Christina and Uncle Clayton were so nice and gave you and your parents so much of their baby stuff. Baby Lukey is almost a year old and has grown out of lots of his baby things so they packed up everything they were done with and sent it all with Clayton's parents who were coming to Utah to visit some family. Your Mama and Daddy are so lucky to have been given so much! They now have a rocking chair (one that belonged to your Great Grandma Olsen), an exersaucer, a bouncy chair, TONS of clothes and a car seat and stroller. Wow! How generous! And since your Auntie Em is coming to see you parents graduate in less than 1 week, she is bringing a lot of her things that Gagey no longer uses. Grammy Olsen is also coming for graduation and she is buying you a pack 'n play when she is here. Your parents still have several things that they need to get, but not nearly as much as they should have. They have been so lucky to have inherited to many baby things and you are already once spoiled baby too!

Daddy still loves to “tickle” you by tickling Mama's belly and he gives you kisses often by blowing raspberries. Mama still allows him to do it because it is just so cute to see Daddy acting like that. When you read this in several years you'll probably be surprised that Daddy did these things, because usually he likes to be Mr. Tough Man. But he definitely has a soft place in his heart for you...your Mama can't wait to see how he will be once you're actually here! She does know that you are already so lucky to have a Daddy like him. He loves you so much and can't wait for your arrival.

Mommy and Grammy Olsen were talking about you a few days ago and Grammy reminded your Mama that you are coming to your Mommy and Daddy for a specific reason. She also said something that your Mama hasn't been able to forget since. She said, “You need your baby as much as he needs you.” Then she explained how parents learn so much from their kids and really need them for several different reasons, just like kids need their parents. Your Mama then remembered a talk she heard in church recently (she can't remember where or when) where the speaker was talking about part of the scripture Mosiah 3:19: “...becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father.” The speaker then said that never in his life had he learned those traits more than when he had his first child. He was supposed to be the adult yet he was learning these traits more and more each day with his new son and was becoming more childlike in the process. Mommy found this so interesting and was so glad she remembered it. It makes sense the someone would learn these things well when they have child and your parents are looking forward to the process. They already love you so much and can't wait to meet you!
