Dear Baby,
If you were to be born now you would no longer be considered premature!! What a great milestone! You are continuing to amaze Mama and Daddy and they are so excited to meet you! It looks like you're getting ready to come soon. At Mama's doctor appointment last week she was dilated to almost a 2 and 70% effaced. Even though you have no idea what that means, you will some day...but don't worry, it's good news. It is ahead of schedule, which your parents were happy to hear! The doctor didn't want to get their hopes up too much though she he reminded them that some women go into the hospital when dilated to a 2 and have the baby a few hours later and other women can stay that way for four weeks. Let's hope Mama is in between those two circumstances! The doctor did give Mama a compliment though. When he was feeling her belly for you he said he was impressed because Mama's tummy is “all baby! You have no extra fat on your stomach.” That made Mama feel pretty good since her tummy is bigger than it EVER has been, but then she realized that any extra weight she's gained has gone other places...like to her butt and thighs...oh great!
Daddy takes his big test on Friday to become certified in athletic training and your parents have their prenatal class on Saturday, so you can come any time on Sunday or after. Grammy Olsen is almost done teaching for the year and is flying out to Utah Saturday evening! Mommy can't wait to see her and is so excited because Grammy said she'd paint Mama's toe nails since Mama can't do that herself anymore.
Mama had a little break down last week. She was really stressed when she realized how soon you were coming and how unprepared she is. But don't worry, she is doing much better now! She got the last few items she needed for you and finally chose your pediatrician. She also got all your clothes and blankets washed and put away and packed her hospital bag. Mommy and Daddy chose what outfit you'll come home from the hospital in too! It is one that Grammy Olsen gave you and is Daddy's favorite because it is a little baseball uniform that says: Daddy's Allstar. Because of everything she got done, Mommy is now feeling much more prepared and organized.
You scared Daddy last night! He was saying good night to Mama and as soon as he put his hand on her belly to give it a little rub you started moving like crazy! He was so startled that he jumped in the air and almost fell off the bed. Mama couldn't stop laughing!!! You did the same thing a few more times and Daddy was so entertained! Mommy is convinced that you know your Daddy's voice and hands already! With all you crazy movements Daddy is continually referring to you as a “rambunctious little bugger” and kept pointing his finger at Mama's belly, telling you to “behave in there.”
Mama is a little nervous that you will take after your daddy too much... Because daddy is the oldest child in his family, he grew up picking on and teasing his siblings. Now that his siblings aren't around to tease, he teases Mommy instead. Yes, it is all fun and games, but Mama hopes you don't take on that habit and tease her or your future siblings too much!
On Sunday, Mommy and Daddy watched some video recordings of their wedding and the slide show played at their reception. The slide show has pictures of each of them from the time they were babies to right before they got married. It was so fun for them to look back and reminisce on the last few years. They can't believe they have been married for almost two years!!! Time just seems to fly by! They did have a realization about you while watching their slide show... Neither of your parents have BIG ears necessarily, but they both do have ears that stick out quite a bit. You will probably inherit similar ones and they are sorry. They hope you don't mind them too much!!
Even though this is your 37 week update, it is a few days late and is actually your 37 ½ week mark. Stay in there at least until Sunday, then you can come any time!!!!!
At least there is head gear for your baby's ears, if necessary! :)
