Last Thursday morning Blair and I dropped Brock off in Idaho Falls with Blair's mom. The longest I had been apart from Brock was just about 2 hours...when we left him that morning I was leaving him for 2 days! I went with Blair to his med school interview in Washington, which was Friday morning. We didn't get back to Idaho until Saturday morning.
That weekend was great and horrible at the same time. The drive was 9 hours each way and I loved it! It was great to be able to spend 9 straight hours, both there and back, with my sweet sweet husband. Just the two of us! It was heavenly. We were able to talk so much and without any distractions...like we haven't been able to talk since Brock was born. We needed that time and it was so nice.
The bad part about the weekend was leaving Brock. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be and I thought about him constantly while we were away. I called Carleen several times to check on him...I'm sure she was annoyed. Brock did great for Grandma and Grandpa though. He ate a lot and smiled a lot, pooped a little and cried a little...just like any normal baby.
It was a great weekend but it was definitely great to get back to our little Brock. He gave us big big smiles when he saw us Saturday. I live for those smiles!
