I lived in Keizer, Oregon my whole life until I went to BYU and I always thought I'd refer to myself as an Oregon girl. I loved growing up in Oregon and I still miss it almost every day! But just a few days ago I caught myself saying something that made me realize that I may be becoming an Idaho Girl...specifically an Eastern Idaho Girl.
When Blair and I were dating and engaged I heard him and his family use the word "pack" in a weird way...or at least it was weird to me. They would say phrases like "Can I help you pack something?" or "Why don't you pack that to the car." What?! The word "pack" to me means to pack things into your backpack or suitcase. In Eastern Idaho that word is used interchangeably with the word "carry." Yeah, it took me a while to figure that out.
A few days ago I went against what I knew and said, "Why don't we pack the things in the house first..." Oh no! Blair immediately teased me about it because I had always teased him about it.
As a side note, Blair's sister, Christa, also married an Oregonian and he didn't understand their use of "pack" either. It made me feel better when I heard him being confused too.
All I know is that I lived in Oregon for 18 years...I've lived in Eastern Idaho for only 3 months and I am already talking like I've lived here for years. Uh oh!
