1: I think I am hilarious, even when other people don't.
This is something we have joked about in my family for years! Mom thinks anything that comes out of her mouth is so funny, but sometimes we think it's dorky. I am beginning to learn that when I make jokes and comments that I think are funny, Blair looks at me the same way we look at my mom. Blair doesn't think I am super funny like I do, but yet I still make jokes and laugh at my own comments.
2: I think chocolate should be a food group of its own.
It is no secret that I LOVE chocolate! I must have inherited that love from Mom. The other day I caught myself eating a piece of chocolate at 8:30 am! What can I say, it was on my desk when I go to work and was just too tempting. I tried to resist for a few minutes but it kept staring at me saying "Eat me"...so I did. The food pyramid should have a separate category for chocolate and it should require a minimum of 3 servings a day...then I wouldn't feel as guilty.
3: I pick out my clothes the night before as part of my "getting ready for bed" routine.
Yes, this may sound a little dorky and it is. This is something my mom would make me do when I was in elementary school, but what grown up can't pick out their clothes in the morning?! Apparently me and my mom. Well, since I started working full time, laying out my clothes the night before has become part of my nightly routine. If I wait until the morning then sometimes I take too long trying to decide and end up being a few minutes late to work. Thanks to Mom for helping my mornings become a bit more productive.
4: I don't think our apartment is ever clean enough so I always find a new cleaning project to do every weekend.
Growing up, Mom would always give each of us kids a list of "Saturday Chores." The house always needed something cleaned and we were the ones to do it. Now that we are all moved out, she does the cleaning on her own and makes her own list. I have found since being married that I too never think our apartment is clean enough. Whether I need to organize our closets or clean out the kitchen cupboards, there is always some new cleaning project to do on Saturdays. But hey, I get it all done on Saturdays so I can relax on Sundays because, of course, Saturday is a special day, it's the day you get ready for Sunday!
5: I call my mom or sisters to tell them something and by the time they answer I forget what it was I needed to tell them.
Now this has happened countless times, usually when I am calling my mom. There has been several days where I call her with a list of five things I want to tell her and I have to call her five different times because I only remember one thing each phone call. I sometimes feel like I'm losing my memory already, and I'm not even 22! Mom does this too sometimes and it is always entertaining. But it is fun to call someone and still chat about our days even when we forget the important information.
6: I have had a few wardrobe malfunctions.
A few weeks ago my mom got home from school and finally noticed that she had been wearing two different shoes the entire day! They were both black at least, but still, all day!!! I have never worn two different shoes, but I have had a few wardrobe malfunctions of my own, but they are too embarrassing to go into detail about so I'll just stop now.
7: I LOVE my chapstick.
For Christmas last year I asked Blair to get me a new tube of chapstick for my stocking because I was almost out. My dad would often give my mom 5 tubes at a time so they would last her a few months. I learned my chapstick habit from her. I always have to have it with me and we both cake it on thickly! We usually take about 15 seconds just rubbing it back and forth on our lips, just to make sure we got enough.
8: I forget who I tell things to.
This has Mom written all over it! She always talks to me and my three sisters and she tells two or three of us some sort of news and forgets that she never told one of us. It is usually Kelsey or me who gets left out and is the last to know. I have been doing this lately. After my doctor appointments I talk with my mom and one or two of my sisters then don't realize I never told my last sister. It seems that someone always gets left out!
9: I enjoy listening to Rod Stewart.
Dorky? Not for someone my mom's age, but for someone who is only 21...yes! I have a few of my mom's CDs on my iPod and a few of them are mixes that have Rod Stewart songs on them. I listen to my iPod at work a lot and have found myself thoroughly enjoying when my Rod Stewart songs come on! I guess it's because whenever we went on family road trips, my parents would always listen to CDs and they had about 5 of Rod Stewart's. I grew up listening to him on every summer trip and just can't fight my love.
10: I love making lists.
As you can see, this is just one of my many lists I make each week. I love to make lists about what I need to do in the evenings, what we are going to have for dinner each day the following week, what I need to get at the grocery stores, errands I need to run, chores that need to be done, and anything else I need to remember. My mom is also a list person and loves to make them for various things. It is our way of keeping our life organized and also remembering things, since we forget things often.
I am realizing more and more each day that I am turning into my mom...and I wouldn't have it any other way! If there is anyone in the world I hope I can be like when I'm older, it's my mom. She is the best person I know. She is always so compassionate of others and love her family more than anything! I love getting together as a family because all my siblings and I know that you won't be able to stop laughing and smiling when she is around. Thanks Mom for being such a great influence on me and a great example for me. I hope that each day I can become a little but more like you!

Well i can testify to you katelyn that you are not the only one that is turning into your mom. I am too! :O scary!
