When Brock was born he was in the 35th percentile and at his two week appointment he had moved up to the 45th. He was doing awesome for a while. Then he seemed like he wasn't gaining much weight, but we figured the we were just used so used to seeing him everyday, that we couldn't see his weight gain very well. We were wrong...he wasn't gaining much weight.
In the chaos of the move and having to wait until we could get Brock into his new pediatrician in Idaho, he didn't have his 2 month check-up until he was 3 months. At that appointment, we learned that he had dropped all the way to the 5th percentile. Boo! I didn't have nearly as much milk as I thought I had. We started supplementing with formula...that lasted all of five days...he was done nursing! We switched to straight formula and we immediately started seeing him grow. I am happy to report that at 4 months and two weeks (what he is today), he is up to the 10th percentile. I know he is still a little small, but hey, at least he is gaining weight now!
With all his weight, length, and head circumference accounted for, he is perfect! The nurse said he is perfectly proportioned. We hope that he continues to gain weight and grow, but at least he isn't dropping any more!
P.S. Now that we look back, Blair and I saw a few signs that he probably wasn't getting enough to eat when he was only nursing. But as new parents, we didn't really see those signs. Hopefully we won't make the same mistakes with our future kids!
