# 26

Blair’s birthday was on Saturday, the 3rd and we had a fun day celebrating! He was pretty upset about turning 26 – he says now that he is 26, he is closer to 30 than 20, and when you’re 30, you’re old! My mom was not very happy when she heard him say that.

His birthday celebration started Friday night. There is a delicious sweet shop near my work in Idaho Falls called, "Love at First Bite." I stopped there after work and got Blair some yummy fudge and a gourmet cupcake (of course, I got one for myself too). We really enjoyed those that night!

Brocky was such a good boy and slept in until 9:15 Saturday morning, letting Daddy (and Mommy) sleep in. We just relaxed that morning until Blair’s parents came into town, and they watched the monster so Blair and I could run errands in peace. We went to the mall so Blair could pick out his birthday shoes (thanks to his parents), and ran a few other birthday errands. Then we spent part of the afternoon hanging out, until dinner time.

Blair and I have a deal that the birthday person gets to pick whatever restaurant they want to go to, and the other one has NO veto power! Well, his choice this year would probably be one of my very last choices! He chose Red Lobster, and there was nothing I could do about it. I really, really, really don’t like seafood. It is just so yucky to me. I do like canned tuna fish sometimes, but that it!

We brought Brock to dinner with us and Blair’s parents came too. While we were waiting for our table, I searched the menu frantically for something that wasn’t seafood. I found just 2 things: a piece of steak or a piece of chicken. I ordered the chicken and it was actually really good, so I can’t say I had a bad experience, I just wouldn’t ever choose it for myself. Blair had one of their specials: skewered shrimp and a lobster tail, and he was in heaven the entire time! He thinks my dislike of seafood is just mental so he had me try a little bit of both of his, and no, it is not mental. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be (as in, it didn’t make me throw up), but it was still pretty yucky.

Brock was actually really good at dinner, which made it much more pleasant! I just brought lots and lots of snacks to occupy him. He sits in a high chair, pulled up to the table when we are out now and he loves it! With only a few minutes left, I got him out of his chair to feed him his bottle, but other than that he stayed put and was content with his toys and snacks. After dinner we went home and had cake that Blair's mom brought...it was delicious!

In addition to his shoes, Blair also got some movies and gift cards from my family, and got a few books, a shirt, and some shorts from me. It was a very nice and relaxing day! And it even lasted a few days. He got his home-made birthday dinner on Sunday and a birthday breakfast a few days after too (he didn’t want a big breakfast on Saturday). It was a good birthday (except the getting older part)! Blair said this is the best birthday he’s had in a long time because he didn’t have school, tests, or work to worry about.
