includes faith in His timing." -Neal A. Maxwell
Last Monday Blair got layed off. We were pretty upset about it. We were living comfortably in Utah when Blair got this awesome job offer in Blackfoot. We pretty much dropped everything, packed like crazy and moved up to Idaho when Brock was just 3 weeks old. It was stressful but the job offer was so much better than anything he could have gotten down in Utah, so we took it. Come to find out, Blair's department at the hospital was over their payroll budget last year so they had to make some cuts in the new year and Blair was one of them.
After a week and a half of discouragement, we are finally seeing a little bit of light. With my degree and skills, I am much more employable than Blair is at this time during the year. We both looked for and applied for jobs this past week and now we have decisions to make. As of now, our plan is for Blair to stay home with Brock and for me to go work until we move to Iowa at the beginning of August.
The dilemma I am facing right now is this: do I take a great job offer that is a 40 minute drive away, make some good money for the next 6 months, but only see my little Brocky for about 30 minutes a day during the week? OR take a low paying job (where we would barely squeak by) that is only a 3 minute drive away and see Brocky more during the week? THEN if I take the job farther away, should we just move there so I don't have the long drive then move again in 6 months? There is just too much to consider right now.
Honestly, neither of these is ideal. We just wish that Blair could keep working at his job. It was awesome! He enjoyed what he was doing and got payed well. But obviously that isn't an option, so I need to stop thinking about it. We really don't understand why this had to happen. We are just trying to have a little bit of faith. We are heading up to St. Anthony tomorrow afternoon so Grandma and Grandpa can watch Brocky while we go to the temple.
But then I have to be grateful that we have a few options right now. I would rather be stressed with options than stressed without any. I have read all these quotes in the last week. They have stuck out to me for various reasons so I wrote them down to remember.
"When life is hard, remember--we are not the first to ask, is there no other way?"
-Jeffrey R. Holland
"Choose faith over doubt; choose faith over fear; choose faith over the unknown and the unseen; and choose faith over pessimism."
-Richard C. Edgely
"Life is like and old time rail journey...delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders, & jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas, and thrilling bursts of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride."
-Gordon B. Hinckley
"Even if you exercise your strongest faith, God will not always reward you immediately according to your desires. Rather, God will respond with what in His eternal plan is best for you. He loves you to a depth and completeness you cannot conceive of in your mortal state. Indeed, were you to know His entire plan, you would never ask for that which is contrary to it even though your feelings tempt you to do so. Sincere faith gives understanding and strength to accept the will of our Heavenly Father when it differs from our own. We can accept His will with peace and assurance, confident that His infinite wisdom surpasses our own ability to comprehend fully His plan as it unfolds a piece at a time."
-Richard G. Scott
"Faith in Jesus Christ means believing that even though we do not understand all things, He does."
-Ezra Taft Benson
"Life is not always easy to live, but the opportunity to do so is a blessing beyond comprehension."
-My Dad
And, as my wonderful neighbor Joy, and my mom both said to me, it isn't the situations that come your way, but how you handle them that matter.
Blair and I are just trying to stay positive right now and even grateful now that we have a few options to choose from. This life is definitely a journey full of unknowns, but these trials won't last forever.
I hope when you go to the temple tomorrow you'll get some answers or at least some peace. I'm sorry it had to happen, but I know you'll be fine because of your faith.
ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness Katelyn. That is a tough decision. You'll be in my prayers tonight. Good luck. Everything will work out for the best!
